Just One Thing with M-A Murphy

M-A Murphy’s January issue artwork “Late Night Feels” is a melange of neon and shadow, a dazzle of color simultaneously verging on ecstasy and exhaustion. Here they share just one thing about the piece:

“I made the piece ‘Late Night Feels’ at an incredibly low moment in my life last winter. I remember staring out into the snowy abyss and feeling a lot of pain inside of my body and my heart. The pain was so great that I had to puke it out and put it somewhere. ‘Late Night Feels’ is one of the first pieces I made during this time. I pulled and pulled and pulled and that is what came out. The swirls and colors and darknesses that live inside all of us, the dreams, the magic, the pain, the absolute horrific, terrifying, stunning and gorgeous parts of being a human being. Grief and love.”
