Just One Thing with Steven Duong
We are so excited to bring you work from Steven Duong for October’s featured poem. “Watching Platoon with Your Uncle, the Refugee” is a force, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already! Here, Steven shares just one thing about how this poem came to be:
“I’ll let the poem stand mostly on its own, but I will mention this—it includes the dissected remains of at least three or four now-dead poems of mine that won’t see the light of day (because they’re dead). This is a zombie poem, made whole with stitches and skin grafts and a little bit of necromancy. For something that attempts to piece together the mixed legacies of war and migration, I think that’s fitting.”
