Samina Najmi’s April issue memoir “The Straight Lines of a Circle” uses geometry to trace her family’s intergenerational journeys around the world, as well as their intersecting life journeys. Here she shares just one thing about the piece:

"This essay has had a protracted birth. Although it was inspired by a specific moment—my daughter leaving home for college—it became about larger things that helped me place that experience in perspective. In fact, writing it has helped me put life itself in perspective. So much so, that I have decided to begin my essay collection with this specific essay. The book manuscript is almost ready—wish it luck!"
