Just One Thing with Leila Renee
Leila Renee’s May issue flash “Alight” sizzles with quiet anxiety. Here she shares just one thing about the piece:
“‘Alight’ started out as a poem! The original poem was titled ‘South Street Seaport,’ which is where the story is set. I recognize that the line between prose poetry and flash fiction can be very thin, so I decided to turn it into a flash piece because I wanted to create more resolution for the ember situation. Plus, poetry is hard.”
