Just One Thing with Jeff Wood

Jeff Wood’s memoir “What Time Is It?” is a powerful exploration of the mind and memory and the pain of their unraveling. Here he shares just one thing about the piece:

“I wrote about my wife taking the Clock Drawing Test. I had assumed, while writing this, that the use of the Clock Drawing Test—it even has its own acronym, CDT!—would be on the decline, as digital clocks replace analog clocks in the world. I did some research after writing this, and learned that the CDT is alive and well. A major reason for this is the use of the iPad. The CDT is increasingly being given not on paper, but on iPad. An iPad can measure not only the end result, but the drawing process, by providing time-stamped coordinates of the pen’s location on the screen. That way, they can evaluate the entire process of drawing, rather than the end-product alone.”

The neon sign from the Klamm's Shell in Pueblo Colorado, an old steelworker's bar with excellent Mexican food, back in the day. It's closed now.
