Just One Thing with E.P. Tuazon
E.P. Tuazon’s story “Cyclists” explores family connections, the strength of community, and cycling. Here, he shares just one thing about the piece:
The story was inspired by my uncle who, after retiring, joined an all-Filipino-Tito cycling club in Chino Hills. Honestly, I wanted to write a story about the real rivalry they have with a Santa Clarita group of all-Filipino-Titos (whether it’s a serious one or not, I cannot confirm), but the story evolved into something else. Additionally (sorry, this is two things now), I wrote this story after I wrote another one with “Cycle” in the title on the unrelated topic of raising fish. It’s currently the digital feature for Reed Magazine’s issue 159. Read it here: https://www.reedmag.org/fiction-the-fishless-cycle
