Just One Thing with Ellen Rhudy

Ellen Rhudy’s February issue piece “Escape Velocity” is the zombie story of our dreams. Here’s just one thing from Ellen about what inspired her to write it:

“A few years ago I visited the Kennedy Space Center (and have been fantasizing about returning ever since). There's a moment when you're watching a video on a large screen—I forget what it's about, I'm guessing a history of the space program—and you gradually begin to see a shuttle in the video background. And then, suddenly, the screen rises and the Atlantis shuttle is in front of you. It's that moment, and wanting to capture some sense of my own awe, that I think drove the entire story.”
