Just One Thing with Caitlin Lydon
Caitlin Lydon’s March issue story “Star Quality” is about an unconventional application of drama school study—to say the least. Here she shares just one thing about the piece:
“This is probably very uncool, but I started thinking about this story because of an episode of Friends - the one where Rachel says she doesn't get embarrassed easily, then Ross loses his tiny little mind trying to humiliate her. Bloody Ross. I don't remember how or why that particular episode popped into my head one day, but I liked the idea of someone boldly deciding not to feel shamed, and how uncomfortable it can make people - then seeing all the ways they have to prove themselves for it to actually be true. No one can just let anyone be. The story escalated and spun out from that idea, basically. I wish I had a more literary answer for you, but we are where we are.”
