I just finished the 31 Days of Horror where I watch a horror movie every day of October. One of my favorites I watched this year is Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, which is a horror movie I have long loved. I've watched this every few years since I first saw it as a tween with my family and love the mix of mockumentary sequences with slasher sequences. It's a funny, satirical movie that I highly recommend to horror lovers!

I caught the new A24 film, “Heretic,” in theaters the night of the election. Once again, I was pleasantly surprised to watch genre storytellers (the writers of this film also created “A Quiet Place”) engage with thorny themes, ones that guarantee box office bankruptcy if articulated to cleanly. And, as always, I’m down for any major-release film that asks us to question the motives behind our “faith”…and how tightly we’re willing to hold on when disaster detonates close to home.
Also, it pleases me to no end that Hugh Grant is finally receiving the kudos he deserves…his rom-com past be damned.
