On my nightstand: Robinson’s complete Chaucer, Pop. 1280 by Jim Thompson, The Last Samurai by Helen DeWitt, Crapalachia by Scott McClanahan, Nixonland by Rick Perlstein, Nightwork by Christine Schutt, a salt lamp, a cappuccino from yesterday. Lately watching movies on my exercise bike: Timecop w/ Jean-Claude Van Damme, Smorgasbord w/ Jerry Lewis, Fat Girl dir. Catherine Breillat, Glengarry Glen Ross twice, Vagabond dir. Agnes Varda, Saint Jack where Ben Gazzara plays a pimp in Singapore, Convoy by my favorite director, Sam Peckinpah. Kris Kristofferson plays a trucker who harasses a cop (Ernest Borgnine) over CB radio for two hours. My quads look great.
