Now Playing: April 2020
The pandemic lockdown is still going strong for most of us, which means we have plenty of time to watch and listen to new things—and our April contributors are no exception! For this month’s NOW PLAYING, here are some recommendations from Threa Almontaser and Jules Hogan.
Threa Almontaser
“I’ve been re-listening to the podcast Ear Hustle in San Quentin state prison. With social distancing at an all-time high, I felt it fitting to hear the daily realities of those in it for the long-run, with stories from the outside, post-incarceration as well. It’s sometimes hilarious, sometimes sorrowful, and the intro beats always go hard (created by the prisoners inside themselves, such as Rhashiyd Zinnamon, Antwan Williams and David Jassy). I was curious to learn more in their latest episodes on what people self-isolating today are talking about, worrying about, how the pandemic changed day-to-day life inside, and ways they’re being supported.”
Jules Hogan
“Of course I watched the Tiger King. To me, good stories are always filled with insufferable characters, so I loved it. I don't think Carol Baskin killed her husband, and if she did, he probably deserved it.”
