Musical Guest: Xiren
Prolific is the perfect term to describe our March 2013 musical guest, Xiren. Diverse would be another. With influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Sting, Xiren needs to keep producing records, singles and his popular videos found all over the web. With five full-length albums, a DVD of his stellar performance at Red Rocks in Denver, close to twenty singles and a complete arsenal of videos, one could say he’s busy producing a shit-load of output.
Considering the influences stated above, his style ranges from in-your-face rock as heard on his album Trip-R, to minimal piano ballads such as his recent single covering “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers, which can be found on iTunes or seen on YouTube.
To those who might be unfamiliar with Xiren, you have heard him at least once or twice before since his songs have been placed in television shows on networks such as NBC, MTV, VH1, and Discovery along with several others. In fact, it was when I was watching NFL Network that I heard Xiren for the first time in a long while. They played “You Need Me” from his record Polite Conversation. The song has one of the most memorable guitar riffs in music today and we highly suggest you pick up the single on iTunes.
It clearly goes without saying that Xiren is one badass motherfucker with an engine that refuses to die or even stall. Keep checking back with him on his variety of web outlets to hear and see more!
