“One thing that people would not know about my memoir in the November Issue of Split Lip Magazine is that when you name a piece ‘Congratulations,’ be prepared for the many tricky emails that begin on a high note only for you to open the email and read: ‘Congratulations’ — We are sorry to inform you that your work was not accepted for publication. As far as titles go, this one threw me a few times. Thankfully Split Lip Magazine worked with me on it and spared me the pain of that irony.
