Just One Thing with Leah Francesca Christianson

Leah Francesca Christianson’s April issue story “Hard & Smooth & Seemingly Unattached” is about daring to hope in the face of uncertainty. Here she shares just one thing about the piece:

"During quarantine, a dear friend and I started a virtual Writing Wednesday that, I'm proud to say, we've kept up nearly every week. This story began during one of those writing sessions, when I was still foolishly thinking it would only last a couple of weeks. Like my fictional narrator, my life had a lot of newness in it, all of which got reframed, thanks to the pandemic. The virtual sessions kept me invested in finishing her story. Also (second thing, sorry), this story showed me how overly attached I am to parenthetical asides and em-dashes. I'm working on it.”
