Born in Shanghai China, Xu DaRocha (@xudarocha) currently lives and works in Los Angeles. She believes the integration of the self brings about the integration of nations and cultures, for as Carl Rogers said, “What’s the most personal is the most universal.” With the intent to challenge the boundaries of reality and seek universal symbols and languages, Xu has developed an intimate approach to depict dream states and surreal visions in her paintings, drawings, and sculpture. Animals, nature and figures from myth, collective consciousness and pop cultures coexist, morphing into each other and creating harmonious images and objects without the need to make hierarchy.
