Kaelin Ian Cooper was born in 1996 in Chattanooga, TN. He moved to Murfreesboro in 2014, to pursue his BFA in Studio Art. There he concentrated in printmaking and painting, growing and combining both to fit his mixed media style of artwork. He has shown his work in a variety of locations throughout Murfreesboro and Nashville such as: Cummins Station, East Nashville’s Main Street Gallery, Out Central, and Murfreesboro’s Murfree Gallery. Outside of galleries, Kaelin has submitted to international and National Journals, such as, Fredericksburg Literary Review Magazine, Sink Hollow Journal, and the Santa Ana Review Magazine. Kaelin’s work is recognized for being a voice for the disenfranchised and bringing light to the LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer) community in both national and international perspectives. Being gender non-binary, Kaelin sees himself as a work of art when in public, pushing the social contexts of what it means to be normal in 21st century America. Alongside Kaelin’s mixed media work, he also specializes in freelance illustration and character concept. Though his work is based on merging reality and fantasy, he creates these illustrations that allow you to see his work in a new light, away from his prints and paintings.

Kaelin is currently working on creating broader works within the same topic, to give diverse crowds a feel for his art around America more. While expanding his portfolio, he aims to receive his masters in the next three to five years in Printmaking accompanied by painting.
